Merchant risk: catch the storefronts that won't exist when the chargebacks land.
PSPs and BNPLs onboard SMB e-commerce merchants on self-reported data. The public record often says otherwise: the brand belongs to an operator running dozens of storefronts, and the merchant's lifespan is one selling season.
What self-reported onboarding misses
The merchant that vanishes
A disposable storefront sells hard for a quarter and disappears. The chargebacks arrive after the operator has moved to the next brand — and they land on you.
KYB stops at incorporation
A real LLC with a real bank account can still be storefront #88 of one operation. Entity verification tells you the shell exists; it doesn't tell you what it is.
Manual review doesn't scale to a book
An analyst can research one merchant. Nobody re-screens ten thousand of them against the trademark register and marketplace seller disclosures by hand.
Screen against the public record
Batch-screen the book
POST a list of brands or merchant names and get the facts back for each: owner, country, register footprint, operator-cluster membership, and the honest no_record for names with no US filing.
One lookup at onboarding
A single GET in the onboarding flow answers who is behind the brand right now — computed at request time from the register, not from a stale snapshot.
A file for the escalation
When a merchant needs a closer look, the $49 brand report ships the complete record as a PDF: mark list, transfers, cluster evidence, resolved seller identities with addresses.
Questions
What coverage should we expect?
The graph covers the US trademark register (14M marks) joined with marketplace seller disclosures. A merchant whose brand has no US filing returns no_record — itself a signal worth having in the file, stated as a fact rather than a score.
Can we screen our existing portfolio once before integrating?
Yes — the batch endpoint takes a list, and for a one-time screen of a larger book, email us and we'll run it and return the facts as a file.
Is this a risk score?
No. Every answer is facts with the underlying record linked — your risk model decides what they mean. We publish nothing we can't cite, and when the record is unclear we say ambiguous.
